Martin Aircraft’s Commercial Jetpack Looks to Take Flight from Planenews Aviation News
It is about time man flew among the birds – alone. We may not have the homes on the moon, or the flying cars that our totally reasonable childhood imaginations ensured us would be waiting for us when we grew up, but with a little luck and a lot of money, we might soon be able to scratch “jetpack” off of our bucket lists.

Editorial: Why rocketry matters to me & inspiring others from Rocketry Planet
My six years with rocketry have been very important to me. Because of what I've learned. But more about what I still need to learn. I fell into this hobby as the result of a coworker/friend. Upon entering I was super hungry for the knowledge. I soon realized that knowledge came by experience, not sheer hope. And not by speed, or fast. Since then I have tempered my learning. To continue learning, but not to force it too quickly. Soon I was a happy rocketeer, learning as time allowed. Making correct designs. Making mistakes, and hopefully learning from them.

Reno Update - 9/16/2010

Here's a recap from yesterday, provided by LiveAirShowTV.   (Email readers - fyi. this is embedded video).  To quote LASTV - "An update on the start of racing at Reno. Who's in....Who's out....Who's the one to beat".

LASTV was in the Strega pit with Steve Hinton and team this morning.  They were planning on visiting Bob Button, Wil Whiteside, and the crew in the Voodoo pit shortly afterwards.  We'll share that as soon as we get word it is posted!

Marilyn Dash kindly forwarded some pictures to us early this morning (we were already on our way to Stead airport when they were received, so sorry they are late being posted). These were from the fence on Wednesday.

Reno – Day One from aroundthepattern.com
The first official day of the races was today, Wednesday. The morning sessions were filled with qualifying periods and the afternoon sessions were the first of the heat races for all classes except the unlimiteds.

It shows the top four qualifiers in each class.  For those of you interested in the unlimiteds, Steve Hinton (the younger) qualified first Flying Strega at 484.255 mph followed very closely by Will Whiteside flying Voodoo at 479.180 mph.
The races are not the only things going on at Stead. Between the race sessions there are air show acts. When  ...
