Aviation Roundup in memory of Amanda

Only seven weeks from now Minden-Tahoe Airport will be hosting an outstanding event to celebrate the life of Amanda Franklin and to raise money to offset medical bills and loss of income for the great Flying Circus pilot Kyle Franklin. We are so fortunate that the air show family has stepped forward in such a dynamic way to help in this effort. With Wayne Boggs as our Air Boss and Danny Clisham as the announcer the fans will be totally entertained. Jay Rabbit is providing his awesome state-of-the-art sound system and as of this writing the list of performers include, in no particular order:

Patty Wagstaff
Greg Koontz
Mark Peterson
Chuck Coleman
E Team Skydivers
Super Dave Mathieson
Jon Melby
Marcus Paine
Team Rocket
Rich Perkins
Seamus McCaughley
Greg Colyer

Our static air “Zoo” will include Beaver, Broncos, Mustangs, Gazelles, Cobras, Mallards, Chipmunks, Tigers and more. The Coast Guard will display their flotilla, a SWAT Team will have a display and the K-9 Teams and radio controlled aircraft will put on demonstrations. The Perlan II project will have a mock-up of the new pressurized glider being built for their 100,000 foot altitude attempt and will be doing a presentation followed Bill Schroeder presenting a FAA WINGS seminar. Our vendor group is very eclectic from Harley Davidson to Starbucks to Costco and another 15 in between. We have four different vendors providing food favorites including the basic air show staples and BBQ along with special pastries and wine tasting. We are still accepting performers, static displays, vendors and volunteers. Please give us a call at 775-782-9871 or email bthompson@co.douglas.nv.us

Minden-Tahoe Airport hosts Kyle & Amanda Franklin Benefit Air Show

August 27-28, 2011: The Minden-Tahoe Airport will host the 1st annual Aviation Roundup. This year’s event will be a benefit for Amanda and Kyle Franklin. All profits will be donated to the Kyle and Amanda Fund through the ICAS Foundation. Please join us in this very important event. ICAS members Bobbi Thompson, Wayne Boggs and Bruce Turner will team together to lead this special benefit show.

This will include an Air Show a fly in and convention for pilots, manufacturers, and distributors of aircraft and aircraft components. The event is open to pilots and the community and will provide great family entertainment.

The main Airport ramp will be available for tents and booths for vendors. Space will be available for seminars and classes for pilots and customers. This is an opportunity to be on the ground floor of a premier event in the aviation industry. As a courtesy, the Minden-Tahoe Airport will not be charging for the vendor spaces for this pecial event. Please know that space is limited, so get your registration in early. We are anticipating 12,000 to 15,000 in attendance.

Watch for additional updates as we get closer to the Roundup. For questions or for more information, please contact Bobbi Thompson, Airport Manager or Chris Johnson, Airport Operations Specialist, at (775) 782-9871, or  bthompson@co.douglas.nv.us, or cjohnson@co.douglas.nv.us.
