Sport Air Racing League Wraps up 2011 Season

PFLUGERVILLE, TX – DECEMBER 2, 2011 – The fifth full season of the Sport Air Racing League (SARL) has come to an end with the Rocket 100 Air Race.  Competitors from many different parts of the country converged on the Taylor, TX airport to squeeze out a few more points for the league/category championships.  LiveAirShowTV was on hand to capture this final race, and see who would take home the Points Champion Trophy.

Strong winds and moderate ceilings kept the flying interesting.  LiveAirShowTV rode along with Bob Mills, from Reno, NV, in his Rocket Six as he worked his way around the course.  League Chairman Mike Thompson did experience engine trouble, but landed safely and managed to get the plane back to Taylor.

Special thanks to Curtis Wilson who literally flew over from the Lakeway, TX airport in a Cessna 172 to assist with the production.  “Jeff asked me to come over since his son Bryan is deployed in Afghanistan.  I can’t say that I filled Bryan’s shoes, but it was fun to be around these great pilots”.

It was a record setting year for SARL with more races and more participants.  The 2012 season is being scheduled now.  If you’re interested in participating in what they call “Racing for the rest of us”, check out the Links section on the LiveAirShowTV web site.
