Indianapolis Air Show: 2011 Air Show of the Year

Indianapolis, Ind. -- The Indianapolis Air Show picked up a major award at this month's International Council of Air Shows convention in Las Vegas.

The US Navy's famous aerial demonstration squad, the Blue Angels, tapped the Indianapolis event as its "2011 Air Show of the Year." The show - which will be presented for the 16th time next June - is a fund-raiser for local children's charities through the Central Indiana Community Foundation. Through CICF, the air show has raised nearly $1.5 million since 1997. Among beneficiaries is Riley Hospital for Children.

Also at the convention, the air show's 2012 headliner was announced: the US Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron - more commonly known as the Thunderbirds. Next year's dates are June 23-24, at Indianapolis Regional Airport.

The Indy air show is one of the best, due to the dedications of volunteers and the staff who are involved! Such as Guy Eoff, Dennis Smith, R+10, Doug and Janet Cross, Mindy, Beth and the list is endless.

In 2009, The Magazine by AirShowsReview picked as the BEST, for the year!

In 2012 it should be better with a new firm looking after the media.
