LiveAirShowTV returns to Andrews for the Joint Service Open House
PFLUGERVILLE, TX – APRIL 21, 2011 - LiveAirShowTV has been awarded the contract for the LED Screens and video production for the 2011 Joint Service Open House at Joint Base Andrews in Silver Springs MD. “We are very excited to be returning to Andrews for the show,” said LiveAirShowTV President Jeff Lee. “I directed the screens from 2007 through 2009 for another company. This year we will put our team and technology on the ramp to enhance an already great show for air show fans.”
The 2011 Joint Service Open House, May 21st and 22nd, will feature the USAF Thunderbirds, the U.S. Army’s Golden Knights, the Navy’s F/A-18 Super Hornet, and the USAF A-10 demo. Aerobatic performers include Sean D. Tucker, John Klatt, the Geico Skytypers .and Greg Poe. Plus the E-Team Sky Divers, Smoke-n-Thunder Jet Car and much more.
A live Internet broadcast is also being planned for the Saturday and Sunday shows. Air Show Announcer Rob Reider will guide air show fans both on the ramp and watching on their computers, through a great day of flying. “Working with Jeff Lee & LiveAirShow TV is always a treat”, said Reider. “He understands the air shows, airplanes, and how to get the right thing on the screen at the right time! He's a consummate pro. It'll be great to be working with him at the Joint Service Open House this year.”

INDIANAPOLIS -- The first planes are scheduled to arrive at the Indianapolis International Airport's new terminal Tuesday night.
An afternoon opening ceremony will include cutting a 1,000-foot ribbon, dozens of speakers, bagpipes and a flyover by the Indiana National Guard's 122nd Fighter Wing. 6News plans to have live coverage of the terminal's grand opening at 1 p.m. on TheIndyChannel.com and 6News 24/7.
The first commercial flight is scheduled to arrive after 8 p.m. The first departures will take place Wednesday morning.
Airport officials pushed back the opening of the new $1 billion terminal by two weeks to coincide with Veteran's Day. Indianapolis Airport Authority board president Randall Tobias said the new date was selected as a tribute to veterans.

The new Weir Cook Terminal at our new Indianapolis International Airport is within hours of receiving its first passengers.
And tomorrow morning, it will be full-go for both arrivals and departures.
During ribbon-cutting ceremonies this afternoon, I had several goose-bump moments (including the one in the photo above, where I got my own snip of the ribbon).

Who was H Weir Cook? - from http://www.in.gov/gov/2570.htm

Harvey Weir Cook was born in Wilkinson, Indiana in 1892. He graduated from Anderson High School and attended college at both DePauw University in Greencastle and Washington & Jefferson University in Washington, Pennsylvania. In 1917, he joined the United States Army Air Service and was a combat ace and captain during World War I, officially downing seven enemy planes.

Cook was a pioneer in bringing Indianapolis its first principal airport. The Indianapolis International Airport was known as the Weir-Cook Airport from 1944 to 1976. In 1942, he returned to military service as lieutenant colonel in World War II, where he was killed while flying a Bell Airacobra P-39 over New Caledonia. A memorial in his honor remains on display at the Indianapolis International Airport.

The Grumman F7F Tigercat was the U.S. Navy's first twin-engine fighter airframe. Originally, the Tigercat was designed for carrier operations but later became a land based attack or night fighter in the Korean war.
