Mt. Vernon Airport to Host Historic B-25, P-51 Planes - WJBD Online | The Mt. Vernon Airport will be hosting two historical planes on the airstrip next month. On Labor Day, the Airbase Arizona of the Commemorative Air Force, a non profit group, will be bringing a historic B-25 J Bomber Aircraft entitled "Maid in the Shade" to the airport for the week. HISTORIC WWII AIRCRAFT ON DISPLAY AT PRINCETON AIRPORT August 30 & 31, 2013

Princeton, Minnesota — The Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force located in South St. Paul, will have the B-25 "Miss Mitchell" Bomber and other historic WWII aircraft on display August 30 and 31, 2013 at the Princeton Airport in association with Flight Expo and Princeton Pilots Association/Airport Group.  

The B-25 will arrive at  1:00  PM on Friday August 30th. and will be on display until 6:00 PM. The general public, current and former Veterans as well as local Media are welcome to attend. The B-25 and other WWII aircraft from the Commemorative Air Force will also be on display from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday August 31. All of the aircraft will be available for ground tours, cockpit tours and aircraft rides. 

Rides for the aircraft begin at $125 on up. The aircraft rides are tax deductible donations. B-25 hats, t-shirts, toys and other WWII memorabilia will also be on sale throughout the weekend. The Ride Program is what keeps these Historic Aircraft in flying condition. Come out and experience a big part of world history. The event is free admission. Bring the family

 In 1957, a small group of ex-service pilots pooled their money to purchase a P-51 Mustang, beginning what is now called the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). With the addition of a pair of F8F Bearcats, the CAF became the founders of the Warbird Movement, an effort to preserve and honor our military history with the rallying cry to “Keep ‘Em Flying!” Now, 55 years later, the CAF is the premier Warbird organization, operating 156 vintage aircraft in Honor of American Military Aviation. A non-profit educational association, the CAF has more than 10,000 members and its fleet of historic aircraft is distributed to 73 units located in 24 states for care and operation.
